Denon DNP-800NE: Network player providing open, detailed and accurate sound

Denon DNP-800NE is a new generation streamer. The device is equipped with a 32-bit DAC PCM1795 (Texas Instruments) and an effective jitter suppression system. The audio signal paths in its tract are reduced as much as possible in order to obtain accurate natural sound. The thickness of the main chassis of the new player has been increased by 25%, and the thickness of the top cover by 14% compared to the previous model DNP-730AE, respectively, the rigidity of the entire case has improved.

The Denon DNP-800NE network player has a low full-size case with four anti-vibration feet. In the center of the figured aluminum front panel there is a 3-line high-contrast OLED display (with the ability to adjust the brightness and turn off), to the right of which there is a source selector button. Next is the joystick ring for navigating the menu (and controlling file playback modes) with the central Enter button, which is also responsible for the playback and pause functions. The left side of the front panel houses a USB port compatible with iPod/iPhone. The left side of the front panel houses a power/standby button with an indicator.

Denon DNP-800NE is DLNA (1.5) certified and can connect to a local network – both via an Ethernet connection and via the built-in Wi-Fi module. Thanks to this, the player gets access to audio files on servers and computers on this network, and also works with web services and Internet radio. Spotify Connect and vTuner services are supported. Playback of formats such as FLAC HD, WAV, AIFF, ALAC and even a DSD stream is available. The Wi-Fi Sharing function is designed for Apple devices and WPS for fast secure Wi-Fi pairing, as well as WMM (Wi-Fi Multimedia) – a protocol that gives network packets of multimedia applications priority over “regular data”, which is expressed in fewer errors and more stable operation during their transmission. There is an AirPlay 2 function for Apple. The kit includes a standard remote control, but you can also control the streamer using a proprietary application installed on devices with iOS or Android. The built-in headphone amplifier has three stages (high / medium / low) to work with high-impedance headphones such as 300 Ω or 600 Ω.

According to the new “AirPlay 2” feature added to iOS 11.4, you can play Apple Music with multiple AirPlay 2 compatible devices, shorten the audio playback time, and improve the synchronization accuracy between video and audio when playing a movie. In addition, since Siri voice control is possible, you can select songs from Apple Music and iPhone libraries by voice.

The Denon DNP-800 NE, thanks to the Burr-Brown PCM-1795 DAC, supports playback of DSD files up to 5.6 MHz stored on a music server in the home or USB memory, as well as PCM audio files up to 192 kHz / 24 bit, WAV, FLAC and Apple Lossless. The latest version of “Advanced AL32 Processing Plus” of Denon’s original analog signal reproduction technology supports high-resolution audio sources. In the case of PCM 44.1 kHz / 16 bit, upsampling and bit expansion processing is performed up to 705.6 kHz / 32 bit.

Since the DNP-800NE supports Wi-Fi connection, network audio playback, Internet radio and HEOS app operation can be performed even if there is no wired LAN at the installation location. Both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands can be used, and since it also supports MIMO (multiple input multiple output), high-speed and stable communication is possible.

The Denon DNP-800NE network player is equipped with optical and linear (RCA) outputs. There is an IR output connector, which allows you to activate Denon components connected to the Denon DNP-800NE. The model has two Wi-Fi antennas for a reliable wireless connection. The Denon DNP-800NE is capable of providing open, detailed and accurate sound. The device is versatile and allows you to work with current HD audio formats.
