We analyzed the Sony headphones WH-CH510, an on-ear headset (supra-aural or over the ear). They are made of plastic, very light, quite small size, some acceptable comfort pads but a surprisingly good sound in this price range.
CONTENTS OF THE BOX
In the box comes the basics: the headphones themselves, the instruction pad and a small USB cable to charge the battery. There is no mini-jack cable because these headphones do not have a socket to connect an audio cable. If you run out of battery, you simply cannot use them
SOUND
Let’s go for the high point, the sound. It’s hard to believe that cheap plastic headphones like these have such good sound. Just the right treble, the mediums sound great, with punch. And the bass is great. Full-bodied and clean. I didn’t expect that in a headset this size. Sometimes I take them off in the middle of a song like “let’s see, what I’m wearing because it can’t be“. But yes. A great sound at a low cost. On the EQ, for the Sony WH-CH510 headphones I propose an increase of between 5 and 10 dbs in the frequency range of 4K to 7K. The rest I wouldn’t touch. Attached EQ capture with 3D BOOM.
The tb microphone picks up the voice especially well. It is perceived with body and quite clearly. Better than other much more expensive headphones. Here is a sample recorded by Rtings.com
BENEFITS
There is little to highlight in terms of performance.
- 36h battery life
- Bluetooth 5.0
- NFC pairing
- Without APP sony (for EQ and other configurations)
- No ANC available
- No wired connection possible
- Not compatible with PS4 or Xbox One
In relation to the materials, obviously at that price, the Sony WH-CH510 helmets give a sensation of fragility as they are 100% plastic, but they do not seem to break easily when stretched and bent. They have buttons to increase and decrease volume, to pass or rewind the song, and power on/off.
COMFORT
As the ear cups rotate vertically and horizontally, they fit well and do not push from one point to the other. They also do not exert too much force against the head (because of their plastic headband). The ear pads are quite thin and have a somewhat plastic synthetic skin, which does not give a natural skin feel. They do not give a natural skin sensation.
CONCLUSIONS
The Sony WH-CH510 headset is made of plastic, very light and somewhat fragile, has a fairly small size, acceptable comfort pads, a quality microphone and excellent sound in this price range. If your budget is less than £50, I wouldn’t think twice about it RECOMMENDED PRODUCT by stereocheck.com.
